Camberwell Whale

I am very happy to introduce my new whale, who I picked up at Camberwell markets this week! He is a rad little leather money bank. He has a coin slot shaped blow hole and a zipper for teeth! He is in excellent condition and is definitely up there with my favourite Camberwell finds. I will be saving my pennies in his belly each week and have him regurgitate them in time for my weekly Camberwell Market visit. My lovely Dad came down from the mountains and bought this little guy for me. . . . Thank you Papa Bear! ♥

Today's Finds

We didn't find much at Camberwell today, but it was still a very nice Sunday morning. My favourite donut van was back after a Sunday off last week AND Dee saw his girlfriend (another staffy twice his weight - she is so beautiful)! A permanent stall holder at the market who we visit every week gave me a present! - Some beautiful old French text books. I also picked up 3 Hayao Miyazaki dvds. I have recently been working on my movie collection aiming to get my top 20 movies on my shelf. The nice man who sold me these told me to bring a list next week of all the movies I would like and he will dig them up for me. He organises his dvds excellently into sections like "Jim Jarmusch" or "Johnny Depp" or "Aussie" - he even has an "Arty Farty" section. The first movie that will be on my list is True Romance. Charley comes along to Camberwell in hunt of frames. He has found some great frames over the past two weeks and has been filling them up quick smart. Here is two of them with his paintings in them. I stole them off his desk when he wasn't looking and put them on the wall behind my desk. They look great there. To see more of this clever boys imagination, go here.

Bosco Needs a Home

Adopting our sweet little Dee from the Staffy Rescue was one of the best decisions we ever made! He is so wonderful. I wish we had a bigger home so we could adopt Bosco too! Bosco is one of the 4 beautiful Staffies at Staffy Rescue Victoria who is looking for a home right now....

Anytime I get sad thinking about homeless doggies, I look at Staffy Rescue's Happy Endings page on their website. One day I will have a big home in the country with a pack of dogs.

Street Studio - The Place of Street Art in Melbourne

I haven't been this excited about a book in a while! I am excited about this book for a few reasons...

First reason: I got a sneak peak and it looks super special. It's JAM PACKED full of great pictures of great work and great spaces and great people!

Second reason: Outré Gallery is having a launch and signing this Saturday! I believe the night before they will be taking things off the wall and pulling apart their window display to make way for what ever it is that will fill the gallery on Saturday! Oooh!!! Mysterious and exciting!!

Thirdly: There is a photo of a staffy in the book!!!

Fourthly: It's all about my favourite city - Melbourne! In fact this book represents what it is that I love so much about Melbourne.

So.. good book? Yes! Want to buy it? Yes!! Go here for your copy! weeeeee

Rainy Camberwell

Camberwell markets were drowned in rain today. Rainy days at camberwell mean 2 things; less people to try and squeeze past on your favourtie stalls and lower prices from stall holders. Prices today put a grin on my face. $4 each for my new plastic rabbit and plastic bear, $1 for my new rusty scissors and $2 for my new book! I've been on a special hunt for inspiring old book covers so was very pleased to find a dusty old copy of 'Heidi'. It's full of nice illustrations but best of all is it's cover. I also found an amazing school desk for $100 (and totally worth every cent of it!) It was an old double desk with an adjoined bench. The desk had been painted green sometime ago and since had been scratched and bumped, it even had names calved into it! If I had space at my place, I would totally have bought that little desk and for sure would be sitting at it right now writing this. One day I will have a big warehouse jam packed full of Camberwell goodness. I could never move away from Melbourne because I just couldn't bear Sundays without Camberwell Markets. Which reminds me.... stay tuned for a "Camberwell Markets of the World" post that I am planning. I'll also be posting my Top-Ten-Tokyo and my Top-Ten-Barcelona in the near future. Night night.

Dear Santa

I would like to have a Ghost Patrol Pencil Set on my wall, but I will need to start saving my peanuts, because they are lots of peanuts... 2000 peanuts, in fact.
